HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - City Council - 82-102 - 1982-03-02• Transportation RESOLUTION NO. 82-102 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRESNO SEEKING LEGISLATIVE SUPPORT TO AMEND SB-1335, TRANSPORTATION FUNDING WHEREAS, the City of Fresno delivers transit service, both fixed route and demand responsive to citizens of the Fresno -Clovis Metropolitan Area; and WHEREAS, the City acknowledges its commitment to provide an alternative mode of transportation; and WHEREAS, the City suffers a substantial loss in deliverance of transit services and, thus, requires financial assistance from the State of California; and WHEREAS, the City has complied with legislative mandates in order to qualify for State Transit Assistance funds; and WHEREAS, the State is amending the current appropriation formula through SB-1335; and WHEREAS, the language of SB-1335 lessens the percentage of Transportation, Planning and Development Account funds available to smaller transit systems while making a higher percentage available to larger transit systems based upon the systems' ability to generate local revenue; and WHEREAS, SB-1335, appears to be in conflict with SB-215 with respect to the source of funds for the creation of the Unified Transportation Fund. NOW, ThEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Fresno: 1. That the City of Fresno is opposed to SB-1335 in its present form; 2• That the City supports apportionment of the Transportation and Development Account per the formula established in SB-620; and 3. That the City of Fresno shall seek legislative support to amend SB-1335 in its present form. 901- I ML CLERK'S CERTIFICATION STATE OF CALIFORNIA ) COUNTY OF FRESNO ) ss.
