RESOLUTION No. 791-40(8
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF TIE CITY OF FRESNO
DESIGNATING THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC PASSENGER. DEPOT
TO THE LOCAL OFFICIAL REGISTER'OF HISTORIC
RESOURCES.
WHEREAS, at a noticed public hearing on September 18, 1979, the
Council heard testimony on the subject property; and
WHEREAS, the Southern Pacific Depot, located at 1713 Tulare, was
built in 1889; and
WHEREAS, the structure is the oldest railway depot in Fresno, and
one of the eldest structures in the City; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of the Depot had a vital impact upon the
existence and development of Fresno; and
WHEREAS, the structure has been: evaluated and determined to have
t historical significance and
WHEREAS, the structure has been designated to the: National Register
of Historic Places.
NOW, THEREFOREr BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Fresno
designate the Southern Pacific Passenger Depot to the Local Official
Register as set forth in Article 4 of the Fresno Municipal Code relating

to the Preservation. of Historic Structures.
