RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRESNO SUPPORTING THE RESOLUTION
OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS of THE COUNTY OF FRESNO APPLYING TO THE FRESNO
LOCAL AGENCY FORMATION COMMISSION IN THE MATTER. OF THE PROPOSED WALNUT
GARDENS REORGANIZATION INCLUDING THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CON-
SISTING 4F 170 ACRES TO THE CITY OF FRESNOt DBUACHNE NT OF SAID TERRITORY
FROM THE MID VALLEY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, AND DISSOLUTION OF THE
WALNUT GARDENS LIGHTING DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City of Fresno supports the initiation of proceedings by the
Fresno County Board of Supervisors for the proposed: Walnut Gardens Reorganization,
including the annexation of 1.70 acres to the City of Fresno, detachment of said:
territory from tY:e Mid Valley Fire Protection District, `arid dissolution of the
Walnut Gardens Lighting District; and
WHEREAS, the reasons noted by Board of Supervisors' Resolution for this
proposal are as follows:
1. Annexation of the subject territory to the City of Fresno will. result
in Walnut Gardens residents being provided the :full range of urban services
available from the City, such as police and fire protection,, streetl.ighti.ng,
community water anal sewage, solid waste disposal, animal control, etc.
2. Annexation of subject territory will result in Walnut Gardens residents
receiving lower water and sewer rates similar to those paid by residents within
the City of Fresno.
3. Annexation of subject territory to City of Fresno will result i
prova si.on of streetlighting by the City and allow dissolution of streetlighting.

4. subject territory is within the City of Fresno Sphere of Influence
and general planning area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council hereby concurs with and
supports the Fresno County Board of Supervisors approval of the proposed Walnut
Gardens Reorgan nation, including the annexation of 170 acres to the City of
Fresno, detachment of said territory from the Mid Valley Fare Protection District:
and: dissolution of the Walnut Gardens Lighting District.
