RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRESNO
INITIATING AN AMENDMENT TO THE WOODWARD PARK
COMMUNITY PLAN IN THE VICINITY OF THE FREEWAY
41 CORRIDOR.
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fresno adapted the Woodward Park Com-
munity Plan on February 5, 1976, as a refinement of the Fresno -Clovis Metropoli-
tan Area General Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fresno hap entered into an agreement
with the State of California: regarding the construction of Freeway 41 and
WHEREAS, the proposed location of the Freeway 41 Corridor is depicted in the
Woodward Park Community Plan; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Council of the City of Fresno that the land:
within the proposed. Freeway 41 alignment continue to be available as a high volume
transportation corridor for the movement of people and vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fresno deems it prudent to consider var-
ious alternative transportation facilities for the Freeway 41 alignment/transpor-
tation corridor north of W. Bullard Avenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Fresno hereby
r 1.. Initiates an amendment to the land use and circulation
elements of the Woodward Parr Community Plan as required in
order to accommodate the eventual development of the proposed
Freeway 41 Corridor as a freeway or as an alternative high
travel volume facility;
2. Directs staff to prepare a report and all necessary materials
including recommendations,
3. Directs staff to prepare a prospectus for an environmental
impact report to be forwarded to qualified consultants and to
interview a minimum of three (3) candidates and to return to
the Council for an allocation of funds for an environmental
impact report,
4. Directs staff to prepare Official Plan Lines for the develop-
ment of a facility for high volume travel within the Freeway 41 Cor-
ridor and for major streets affected by the corridor and the here-
with initiated plan amendment; and

5. Directs staff to commence negotiation of appropriate modifi-
cations to the Freeway 41 Agreement with the State of California,
consistent with the proposed amendment to the Woodward Park Com-
Mun ty Plan.
