RESOLUTION NO. 79-18
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FR,ESNt}
AUTHORIZING THE RENAMING OF SHEPHERD AVENUE TO
SHEPHERD BOULEVARD BETWEEN FRIANT ROAD TO NORTH
CEDAR AVENUE
WHEREAS, the Fresno City Council received a:request .to change the
name of Shepherd Avenue to Shepherd Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, the Fresno City Council referred the matter to the Fresno'
County and City Street Names Committee for its consideration and
recommendation; and
WHEREAS, the said Street Name Committee recommended that the name
of East Shepherd. Avenue not be changed:, and referred the matter to
the Fresno City Planning Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Fresno City Planning Commission held a public hearing on
April. 31 1979, to consider the said change, pursuant to a published
notice as required by Section 12-1104-a-2 of the Fresno Municipal
Code; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission during public hearing received the
recommendation from the Committee, received the report and recommenda-
tion from the Department of Planning and Inspection and received oral
testimony from interested parties relation thereto: and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission at the conclusion of the hearing
decided that the name of Shepherd Avenue should not be changed and
that development standards should be established for the Boulevard
prior to the assignment of the Boulevard suffix; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined through Resolution No. 6806
that no street name change is necessary; and .
WHEREAS, the Council, after receiving an appeal of the decision of the
Planning Commission held a public hearing on the matter pursuant to
Section 12-1104-C of the Fresno Municipal Code and determined, that the
name of the street should be changed from East Shepherd Avenue to East
Shepherd Boulevard„
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Fresno that
the name of East Shepherd Avenue between Friant Road and forth Cedar
Avenue be changed. to East Shepherd Boulevard.

by the Council of the City of Fresno, at a meeting held: May 8, 1979.
