RESOLUTION NO. 79 -: RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRESNO, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD WITHIN THE CITY OF FRESNO ON MARCH 6, 1979. WHEREAS.. on March 6 ;, 1979, there was held in the City of Fresno, pursuant to Section. 1400 of the Charter of the City of Fresno, a general municipal election., and WHEREAS, the Council, in compliance with Section, 2-1402 of the Fresno Municipal Code, has met at the hour of 9:00 o'clock a.m., on March_13, 1979, at ;its usual place of meeting, to declare the results of such election and to install the newly elected elective officers of the city, and WHEREAS, pursuant to authority delegated to him, by Resolution No. 7585 of the Council, .the County Clerk. of Fresno County has canvassed the returns of the general municipal election and has prepared and presented to the Council a certified abstract of such returns setting forth the results of such election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRESNO as follows 1. The certified abstract of returns heretofore presented to this Council by the County Clerk of Fresno County is accepted and adopted as the official canvass of the returns of such election as held in the City of Fresno, and the Council finds, determines and declares the results of the canvass of the returns of the consolidated elections as follows: (a) The 'whole number of votes cast in the city, the names of the persons voted for, the office each person was voted. for., and the number of votes given in the city to each person, the measures votes upon, and the number of votes given in the city for and against each measure, are as set PAWS forth in the annexed CERTIFIED ABSTRACT, PART I, which is on file with. the. City Clerk and hereby made a part hereof as if fully set forth herein. (b) The number of votes given at each precinct to each person who was a candidate in the election, and for and against each measure, is as set forth in. the CERTIFIED ABSTRACT, PART II, which is on file with the City Clerk and hereby made a part hereof as if fully set forth herein. 2.. The Council finds determines and declares the results of the general municipal election as to each measure voted upon as follows: (a) MEASURE A. Charter Amendment. A majority of the voters voting on Measure A having voted in favor thereof, the charter amendment is hereby declared adopted. (b) MEASURE B. Low Rent Housing, A majority of the voters voting on Measure B having voted in favor thereof, the measure is hereby declared adopted. (c) MEASURE C Highway City Reorganization. A majority of the voters voting on Measure C within the city voted in favor thereof. Fewer than a majority of the qualified electors voting on Measure C within the District voted in favor thereof. Since approval of Measure C required confirmation by -voters bath within the city and within the District, said measure is hereby declared not ratified. 3. The following named persons r each having received: the highest number of votes _given in the general municipal election for the office, are hereby declared elected to the respective offices for which such named persons were candidates, as follows; TED C. WILLS to the office of Councilman No. 1 JCE REICH to the office of Councilman No. 3. LEONEL ALVARADO to the office of Councilman No. 5 JLW rk -
