BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRESNO:

RESOLUTION NO. 79-87
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING FULL COST OF LIVING ALLOWANCE
FOR SSI AND AFDC RECIPIENTS
WHEREAS, SSI and AFDC recipients in Vilif ornia have not received cost of
living increase since July 1, 1977; and
WHEREAS, the cost of Living has gone up by 15.75% during this time.; and
WHEREAS, S, a 15.75% cost of living allowance for S$I and AFDC recipients is
necessary if such persons are to be able to meet basic needs such
as food, shelter and clothing; and
f WHEREAS, such a cost of living adjustment will be met by Federal and: State

revenue without added cost to the County General Fund;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of City of Fresno urges
the State Legislature to support a full cost of living grant
adjustment paid by Federal and State funds for SSI and AFDC recipients.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to State
Senator George Zenov.eh, State Senator Rose Ann Vu ch, State
Assemblyman Richard Lehman., and State Assemblyman Jim Costa
1, JACQUELINE L. RYLE, CMC, City Clerk of the City of Fresno, certify that
the foregoing resolution was adopted by the Council of the City of Fresno,
State of California, at a regular meeting thereof, held on the 27th day
of February 1979, and that the same was passed by the following votes:
