Finance ri S D Aileen RESOLUTION NO. 79-49 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRESNO, DECLARING, ESTABLISHING., AND SETTING RATES OF FARE' TO BE CHARGED BY TAXICABS IN THE FRESNO-CLOVIS .METROPOLITAN AREA. WHEREAS, a public hearing was held at 3:00 (axmx* (p.m.) on the 23rd day of January, 1979, at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fresno, State of California, at which time and place evidence was heard for and against rates, charges and fares to be charged by taxicabs in Fresno -Clovis metropolitan areas; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fresno now finds and determines, based upon all the evidence submitted that the rates of fare, hereinafter particularly set forth, are fair, just and equitable, and all objections to the contrary, are hereby overruled. NOW, THEREFORE, the Council, of the City of Fresno, pursuant' to the provisions of Subsections 6-924(b) and (c) of the Fresno Municipal Code, does hereby resolve as follows: SECTION 1. RATES OF FARE. Upon the effective date of this resolution, the rates of fare to,be charged to the public for use of taxicabs shall be as follows. (a) For a taxicab operating on a mileage basis, the fare charged shall be a maximum of one dollar and twenty cents ($1.20} for the initial charge or flag drop, and a. maximum mileage charge of ten cents ($0.10) for each 1/12 mile or fraction of a mile thereafter; and twenty cents ($0.20) for each one minute of waiting time.. CITY A,TTCWW"S OffICE 9r MECTIVE (b) For a taxicab operating on an hourly basis, the fare shall be twelve dollars ($12.00) per hour or fraction thereof to a maximum distance of ten miles. If the maximum distance traveled during any one hour exceedstenmiles, the rate for each mite in excess of ten miles shall be the same as the permittee's then prevailing mileage rate; provided, that no additional charge shall be made for additional passengers to the same destination. SECTION 2. (a) ADJUSTMENTS TO RATES OF FARE. Hereafter, rates of fare on a mileage basis shall be changed when an adjustment equal to the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for Los Angeles - Long Beach, All Items, Urban Wage Earners and Clerical workers, from the date of the last rate change, would equal ten cents ($0.10) per mile or more. The Controller, within five (5) working days of the receipt of official Consumer Price Index information indicating such percentage change, shall notify all Taxicab permittees of the new rates, which shall be effective within five (5) working days - of the Controller's notice. Any changes in rates, within the authorized range, thereafter, shall require twenty-four (24) hours' notice to the Controller. (b) Rates of fare on an hourly basis shall be made as above, provided, that only changes in increments of fifty cents ($0.50) per hour shall be made. SECTION 3. REPEAL OF PRIOR RESOLUTIONS. On the effective date of this resolution, Resolution No. 77-244 and all other resolutions which conflict with this resolution shall be repealed without further action by the Council. SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This resolution shall become effective and in full force and effect at 1201 a.m. on February 1, 1979.
