REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY RESOLUTION NO. 1649
A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL AND OF THE
REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF FRESNO ESTABLISHING
WEST DAN RONQUILLO DRIVE CONNECTING THE HUGHES-WEST
DIAGONAL TO SOUTH WEST AVENUE BETWEEN WEST NIELSEN
AVENUE AND WEST WHITES BRIDGE AVENUE
WHEREAS, on December 17, 2002, members of the Roeding Business Park Redevelopment
Area Project Area Committee (PAC) recommended to the Council of the City of Fresno, their desire
to acknowledge Daniel Ronquillo ("Dan Ronquillo"), then Council Member of Council District No. 3, as
a key individual who achieved funding that made possible the CALTRANS project which constructed
Freeway 180 west of Freeway 99 to the Hughes-West diagonal, the Hughes-West diagonal and
other streets which provide major access to the Roeding Business Park; and
WHEREAS, on December 17, 2002 the Council of the City of Fresno in joint session with the
Redevelopment Agency resolved to direct that the City Manager start the process of naming the
street linking the Hughes-West diagonal with South West Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Development Director recommended that the name of "West Dan
Ronquillo Drive" be considered for this purpose to conform to the official address number system;
and
WHEREAS, the provisions of Section 12-1106 of the Fresno Municipal Code enables the
Council of the City of Fresno to establish street names for the purpose of honoring or calling attention
to persons or places having special prominence and significance to the culture or the history of the
City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council and the Redevelopment Agency of the
City of Fresno as follows:
1. That Dan Ronquillo was the leading advocate for the development of a high-quality business
park south of Roeding Park and that as Chair of the Redevelopment Agency of the City of
�Jl Fresno and as the Fresno City Council Member representing the Roeding Park Business area,
Dan Ronquillo was the leading force that delivered successful planning and funding of the

Roeding Business Park, and initiated and led efforts for the westward extension of Freeway
180 to the Hughes-West diagonal and beyond, to better serve the Roeding Business Park and
the City of Fresno.
2. That the public street connecting the Hughes-West diagonal to South West Avenue between
West Neilsen Avenue and West Whites Bridge Avenue shall be named West Dan Ronquillo
Drive.
