DEPARTMENT CELLULAR TELEPHONES:

during emergency scene operations and to improve or enhance the Department’s
level of service to the community.
Cellular telephones should be used for Department business, which may include, but
is not limited to assisting citizens with communications at an emergency scene.
Cameras on Department cellular phones may be used to document an incident or in
the course of official Department business.
Calls initiated by the driver while the vehicle is in motion are prohibited. In the event

Incoming calls may be answered any time by a member other than the driver if it can
be done safely without interfering with emergency operations.
Cellular telephones assigned to battalion chiefs and company officers should be kept
in their possession as much as possible when out of quarters.
Cellular telephones should be checked daily for proper charge and placed on the
charger if needed. The use of the automotive charger should only be used on an as
needed basis. Leaving the telephone on the automotive charger for long periods of
time may cause the battery life to be shortened.
