APPLICATION This policy applies to personnel assigned to use the Geneon Mister/Blower to sanitize items, equipment, and living or workspaces of the Department. OPERATIONAL POLICY This section intentionally left blank. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE The Geneon Mister/Blower is intended to be used on solid and fabric surfaces for the purpose of sanitation. Its use is not a replacement for daily cleaning or removal of gross contamination. Prior to using, the area should be made free of clutter such as loose paperwork as well as items which will not tolerate the application of water. The unit uses a solution which must be generated within 2 weeks of use. The generation process combines a salt solution with water through an electrolysis process. This process creates a chlorine-based solution like that of a saltwater pool. There is a slight chlorine smell; however, the solution is safe for fabrics and all hard surfaces. Misting an area or equipment with the solution causes bacteria and viruses on the surface to be killed. Currently, the solution is generated at the wastewater facility. This may be obtained by contacting Timothy Tompsett, Wastewater Manager, for delivery of the solution. In the future, a small portable generator will be acquired for use solely by the Department. Set up and use instructions: 1. Turn the brass knob on the solution tank clockwise to the closed position. 2. Remove the tank by pressing the release found on the top of the tank where the tank and the body meet. 3. Fill the tank with solution. 4. Reattach the tank. 5. Prior to plugging the unit in ensure the slide control on the front part of the handle is in the off position. 6. Once the unit is powered on, the slide control may be moved forward to the desired air flow level. A low air flow should be used for close quarters and small items. Higher air flow may be used for larger spaces. 7. With air flow, begin to slowly turn the brass knob on the tank counterclockwise until the desired mist level is being discharged from the nozzle. 8. Mist the desired area until a minimal film of liquid is on the surface. The goal is to allow the liquid to remain for a minimum of one minute without saturating the surface. If too much is applied, it may be wiped off when complete. 9. Allow the area to dry prior to use. When finished with the unit and prior to storing, the blower is to be turned on and the brass control knob turned to the off position where no solution is being discharged.
