A RESOLUTION OF THE FRESNO CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING
ACCEPTANCE OF FY 2005 WEED AND SEED GRANT PROGRAM
PASS THROUGH FUNDING OF UP TO $83,744 FROM THE UNITED
WAY OF FRESNO COUNTY AND EXECUTION OF PROGRAM
DOCUMENTS
WHEREAS, the United Way of Fresno County through the Executive Office of
Weed and Seed (United Way) is a recipient of US Department of Justice FY 2005 Weed
and Seed Program continuation grant funding for the Southeast Fresno District; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to receive Program pass through funding under the
United Way and to participate in the Program by providing Program services in
consideration thereof; and
WHEREAS, the procedures established by Department of Justice and the United
Way require the City to certify approval of Program funding and participation; and
WHEREAS, the City will enter into an agreement with the United Way for the
grant funded Program.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRESNO HEREBY:
1. Authorizes the acceptance of the FY 2005 Weed and Seed Program funding
of up to $83,744 from the United Way for the Southeast Fresno District contingent upon
grant funds being available, consistent with Constitutional and local law requirements
and this resolution; and
2. Certifies, to the extent consistent with all Constitution and local law
requirements and this resolution, that the City has or will have sufficient funds to
operate and maintain the Program; and
3. Certifies that the City has reviewed, understands and to the extent consistent
with all Constitutional and local law requirements and this resolution agrees to the
provisions contained in the FY 2005 Weed and Seed Program Grant Award and Special
Conditions; and
4. Appoints the Chief of Police for the City of Fresno and designee(s) thereof, as
agents of the City of Fresno, to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit documents
including, but not limited to, applications, agreements, memoranda of understanding,
payment requests, certifications and assurances and so on, which may be necessary
for the completion of the program, subject to prior approval as to form by the City
Attorney's office.
