Johnson, Senior Administrative Clerk Section 210.002 Page 1 of 2 PURPOSE The Fresno Fire Department (FFD or Department) recognizes that all personnel including officers and chief officers have limited opportunity to participate in the management of complex, long-term incidents. The objective of this policy is to make allowance for members to participate in state or federal Incident Management Teams (IMT) while communicating Department expectations of those who are authorized to participate on an IMT. APPLICATION This policy provides direction and guidelines to personnel who are authorized to participate on state or federal IMTs. OPERATIONAL POLICY Members shall obtain permission to apply for an IMT through the chain of command to the fire chief. Members conduct while assigned to an IMT shall be as if they are on-duty throughout the duration of the incident. In all instances, but not limited to, stand-by, team rotation, roster, training, and/or deployment of a member will not take priority over the Department’s organizational progress. The needs of the Department will come first; as such, a member will turn down any IMT roster/stand- by, training or deployment request that will not allow them to meet the obligations of their Department, assignments, projects and/or meeting commitments/responsibilities. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE Keep your immediate supervisor apprised of your rotational status weekly. Section 210.002 Page 2 of 2 Keep administrative and special assignments up to date prior to deployment. Turn down the IMT roster, training, or deployment request when your attendance and/or attention to a previously scheduled Department meeting or assignment are required. Inform your immediate supervisor when you are being activated prior to deployment. Provide regular reports to your supervisor concerning your disposition while assigned to an incident. Maintain the training and/or experience requirements for your assigned ICS position. Provide consistent, accurate, and timely reports for reimbursement through the Business and Fiscal Services Division. PROCESS This section intentionally left blank. Incident Management Team – a pre-established team of emergency managers that provides on-scene incident management support during incidents or events that exceed a jurisdiction’s or agency’s capacity or capability.
