FIRE INDUSTRY BULLETIN 2016-006
SCOPE
New fire sprinkler plan submittal requirements for contractors, engineers, and other
stakeholders.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this industry bulletin is to notify applicable stakeholders of the upcoming
requirement for all firms to prepare fire sprinkler plans in accordance with FFD Policy
No. 401.011.
BACKGROUND
As noted in the California Fire Code (CFC), the fire code official has the authority to
formulate policies they deem necessary based upon local conditions related to plan
submittals for all systems, including fire sprinkler systems.
The City of Fresno Fire Department has been in receipt of several firms’ permit
applications, which includes fire sprinkler plans, and the submittals have been found to
be deficient for basic requirements.
To attempt to minimize some of the most common errors, the Department will begin
requiring firms prepare fire sprinkler system submittals in accordance with FFD Policy
No. 401.011. It is the Department’s intent to help stakeholders reduce the number of
plans that have to be returned for errors or omissions, and help reduce plan review
times for all plan submittals.
INFORMATION
Beginning October 1, 2016, all firms shall prepare fire sprinkler plans per FFD Policy
No. 401.011.
NOTE
This notice is effective September 16, 2016.
“To protect and put service above all else.”
