PURPOSE
The purpose of this form is for Explorers to receive dress code compliant uniforms on
loan.

All Explorers will comply with the dress and grooming standards established for
firefighters by the Fresno Fire Department (FFD or Department) unless otherwise
stated in this manual.

Fire Explorer Program:
FFD Turnouts on Loan: Refundable Deposit Contract
Explorers will submit requests to reserve and borrow FFD turnouts and/or equipment via email
to the designated lead advisor.
REFUNDABLE TURNOUT DEPOSIT: A one-time refundable uniform deposit fee in the amount
of $500, payable by check, is due within 14 days of an email request for reservation of a set of
turnouts. This deposit must be received before a set of turnouts can be issued, and is held for
the duration of the Fire Explorer’s participation in the FCC Fire Academy. Deposit checks can
be delivered to the designated lead advisor at FFD Headquarters, 911 H Street, Fresno CA
93721, (559) 621-4002.
RETURN OF TURNOUTS: Turnouts are issued to Explorers for the sole purpose of entry into
the FCC Fire Academy and are returned immediately following the graduation or withdrawal from
the FCC Academy. Fittings and inspections are held where designated below. When an
Explorer graduates from the FCC Fire Academy, or withdraws, he/she is responsible for seeing
that the turnouts are returned to the FFD in good condition to Storeskeeper Phillip Garcia at
FFD Headquarters, 911 H Street, Fresno CA 93721, (559) 621-4002. A receipt for delivery of
same will be issued. Within 30 days of the return of the turnouts, subject to inspection for
damages, said $500 deposit check will be returned to the Explorer. Contact the designated lead
advisor for additional direction regarding fittings and/or inspection of turnouts.
DISREPAIR OR DAMAGE OF TURNOUTS: Should a set of turnouts be returned in disrepair
and/or damaged, the value of the turnouts will be charged to the Fire Explorer. The FFD may
also charge
