APPLICATION Use of hearing protection is to be utilized by all employees, when possible while working in environments with excessive noise. OPERATIONAL POLICY Each member is to be assigned a set of hearing protection to reduce exposure to occupational noise. In some cases, hearing protection may be provided by disposable plugs. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE Hearing protection should be worn when noise levels exceed 85 decibels. PROCESS • Replacement hearing protection is to be requisitioned from supply, through proper channels. • Cleaning earmuffs (if assigned) is accomplished by sponging with warm soapy water and rinsing thoroughly. • Alcohols or solvents are not to be used. If disposable hearing protection is used, they are to be discarded after use and another set obtained as noted above. INFORMATION This section intentionally left blank.
