RESOLUTION NO. 93-185
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRESNO, CALIFORNIA INITIATING THE CITY OF
FRESNO SOCIAL GOALS AND POLICIES DOCUMENT
WHEREAS, the Council requested that a Social Goals and
Policies document be prepared to address social concerns of the
community; and
WHEREAS, in January of 1990, in accordance with the guidelines
of the Local Planning. and Procedures Ordinance, the Council
appointed a citizens committee to participate in and make
recommendations for the preparation of the Social Goals and
Policies; and
WHEREAS, the City Council allocated funds for the preparation
of the Social Goals and Policies document and contracted with
California State University, Fresno, Center for Data Analysis,
Research and Training, and the Social Research Laboratory, to
complete that work; and
WHEREAS, the consultant, committee, and staff held nine public
meetings between February of 1990 and April of 1991 in order to
formulate, discuss, and take public input on the proposed
document; and
WHEREAS, after significant discussion and analysis, the draft
document has been completed and is ready for public review.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of
Fresno hereby initiates the attached Draft City of Fresno Social
Goals and Policies for official public review and comment.
