A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRESNO
REQUESTING CALTRANS APPROVE THE CLOSURE OF A STATE FREEWAY
FOR THE PURPOSE OF FILMING A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE
IN THE CITY OF FRESNO AND AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY DETOUR OF
TRAFFIC FROM THE STATE FREEWAY ONTO CITY STREETS
WHEREAS, Production Companies periodically apply to the State of California to conduct
filming activities on State freeways within the City of Fresno; and
WHEREAS, said filming activities will require the temporary closure of a State freeway at
. various locations and at various hours to facilitate the filming; and
WHEREAS, said temporary closure will cause the re-routing of freeway traffic onto and over
City streets; and
WHEREAS, the temporary closure may require other City streets and/or alleys to be
temporarily blocked or closed and creation of temporary "No Parking Areas"; and
WHEREAS, the proposed closure shall occur from 9:00 a.m., Friday, November 8, 1996 to
12:00 midnight on Tuesday, November 12, 1996.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Fresno does
hereby recommend that Caltrans approve the filming activity and consent to the closure of the
"GAP" freeway and to the re-routing of traffic over City. streets upon the terms and conditions
deemed appropriate and necessary by the State of California, Department of Transportation in the
issuance of a filming permit and to hold harmless the State of California as to the repairs of City
streets because of the detour.
