SECTION 401.004 CONTRACTOR’S RESPONSIBILITY FOR RETRIEVAL OF
PLANS REVIEWED BY FFD
PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to establish timelines for submitting contractors to pay
outstanding fees and retrieve plans. This includes plans in need of correction and
plans that have been approved.
APPLICATION
This policy applies to contractors who submit plans for review by the Fresno Fire
Department (FFD or Department). The Department requires contractors to retrieve
plans in a timely manner after notification that plans have been reviewed.
OPERATIONAL POLICY

OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE
Based upon the need for uniformity in application across the Department’s diverse
service delivery area, and after careful deliberation, the Department has determined
the following:
Plans are submitted to the FFD for review and approval on a regular basis. With the
volume of plans reviewed by staff and the need to move projects forward quickly, the
Department does not have the space or resources to manage a large volume of
outstanding plans.
Once plans have been reviewed by FFD personnel, the contractor will be notified that
the plans have been approved or revisions are required.
PROCESS
Approved Plans
The contractor is responsible for retrieving plans and paying all fees in a timely
manner. The contractor has a maximum of thirty (30) calendar days from the date the
review was completed to retrieve the plans and pay all associated fees. If the plans

are not retrieved within thirty (30) calendar days, the Department may suspend
acceptance of plans from the company for all projects until the approved plans have
been picked up and all outstanding fees have been paid.
Plans Sent Back for Corrections
If plans are being sent back for corrections, the contractor shall submit corrected plans
in a timely manner. The contractor has a maximum of ninety (90) calendar days from
the date the review was completed to submit corrected plans. If no corrected plans
are received within 90 days:
• The permit number issued for that plan review will be cancelled.
• The contractor will pay all outstanding plan review fees incurred during the plan
review process.
• The Department will suspend acceptance of plans from the company for all
projects until all outstanding fees are paid.
