APPLICATION This section intentionally left blank. OPERATIONAL POLICY This section intentionally left blank. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE Members operating the Elkhart series nozzles should be familiar with the basic operations and flow capabilities of each nozzle. For recommended pump discharge pressures, refer to the Training and Equipment Manual, Section 303.005, Pump Operator’s Guide. PROCESS 1. Nozzle Operation: The horseshoe bale operates the ball shutoff portion of all Select-O-Matic and Chief XD handline nozzles. To open the nozzle, pull back on the bale. To close the nozzle, push forward on the bale. 2. Stream Pattern Selection: The tip of the Select-O-Matic and Chief XD nozzles are protected by a heavy-duty urethane bumper that controls the stream pattern selection and the flush mechanism if available. To change from fog to straight stream, rotate the tip to the right. To change to fog or flush, rotate the tip to the left. Master stream nozzles have large control handles to assist with stream pattern adjustment. 3. Flushing the Nozzle: To flush the nozzle of small debris, turn the nozzle tip all the way to the left (past wide fog). The flush setting is not intended for firefighting use.
