APPLICATION Individual performance evolutions (IPEs) are used to document skill level performance. OPERATIONAL POLICY When performing IPEs, members should wear full personal protective equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus as determined by the IPE. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE Active members are to perform IPE without any failures in task steps. PROCESS Equipment Needed: The 35-foot ladder raise can be performed by either two or three firefighters. Each firefighter is required to be in personal protective equipment and wearing SCBA. The evolution also requires a single 35-foot extension ladder and a third-story window. Task: Lift, carry, and raise a 35-foot extension ladder as part of a two person or three- person company and place ladder at a pre-determined location. Performing the operation in reverse, the ladder is to be returned to the assigned area. Performance Outcome: The member, while operating on a simulated fire ground, can give commands to his/her company to lift, carry, and raise a 35-foot extension ladder safely to a designated location and return it to the assigned area. Effective Date: January 2010 Rene Gonzales, Firefighter Current Revision Date: 03/15/2023 Section 316.015 Next Revision (1) Date: 03/15/2025 Page 2 of 4 Note: The base firefighter is the one being evaluated. Candidate Directive: Carry, raise, place accordingly, and remove a 35-foot extension ladder for an assigned task and return the ladder safely to the designated area. To be performed from the base of the ladder. Critical Errors: If the member performs any of the following errors, the evolution is terminated, as it would be a failure of the current test attempt. • Perform an unsafe act which could result in injury to himself/herself or the public. • Perform an act which did or could have damaged equipment.
