This section directs the individual performance evolution for the deployment and use of the In-Line Eductor which is used to disperse foam products. APPLICATION Individual performance evolutions (IPEs) are used to document skill level performance. OPERATIONAL POLICY When performing IPE’s, members shall wear full personal protective equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus as determined by the IPE. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE Active members are to perform IPE without any failures in task steps. PROCESS Equipment Needed: One member in full personal protective equipment, one SCBA, and one engine with a full complement of hose and equipment. Task: Deploy the proper amount of hose necessary to set up an In-line eductor for a foam application operation. Performance Outcome: Members, while operating on a simulated fire ground, should be able to deploy all hose lines necessary to make a connection to an In-line eductor and prepare for a foam operation. Candidate Directive: Deploy all the necessary hose lines and set up an in-line eductor in preparation for foam operation. Remove eductor and adequate foam supply from the engine and take to desired location. 2. Advance 2-1/2-inch line (Line 2) to eductor. 3. Open hose bundle and remove nozzle from 2-1/2-inch line. Attach camcone and 2-1/2-inch hose to the eductor inlet. 4. Attach appropriate amount of line to eductor outlet: • Up to 200 feet of 1-1/2-inch hose equipped with a TFT nozzle. • Up to 400 feet of 1-3/4-inch hose equipped with a SM- 20 nozzle. • Up to 500 feet of 1-3/4-inch hose equipped with a TFT nozzle. 5. Set metering valve to proper position. • .5% - 1% Class A foam, ordinary combustibles. • 3% Class B foam, hydrocarbons. • 6% Class B foam, polar solvents. 6. Insert pick-up tube into container of foam. 7. Advance line to point of attack and open nozzle until it is completely open. 8. Discharge foam demonstrating the following applications: • Rain down • Sweep/Roll On • Bank off Critical Errors P *F P *F 1. Perform an unsafe act which could result in injury to himself/herself or the public. 2. Perform an act which did or could have damaged equipment.
