APPLICATION The primary task of RIC is to respond to firefighters reported in distress. Crew members must be familiar with the responsibilities and expectations of this assignment, including the initial pre-deployment actions. OPERATIONAL POLICY This section intentionally left blank. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE The officer of the company assigned to RIC should assume the role of RIC supervisor and is responsible for: Reporting arrival to, and receiving updates from, the Incident Commander. Making contact with and absorb the two-out crew when appropriate. Having RIC establish a cache of equipment per Fresno Operational Area Guideline. Making positional assignments. PROCESS Training evolution begins at the signal from the instructor and ends when RIC has been established over the radio. Record time for statistical review. Equipment Needed: One truck company with members in full PPE including SCBA; One phantom 2-out team; One FD-66; and One Rapid Intervention Crew Checklist (FD-66). Task: Set up and establish a Rapid Intervention Crew. Performance Outcome: RIC established with all pertinent pre-deployment actions taken. Company Directive: Establish a RIC.
