PURPOSE
Promote training and assist in measuring fire ground effectiveness of crews
deploying a 35’ ground ladder.
APPLICATION
The use of the 35’ ground ladder allows fire companies to support roof operations on
buildings not accessible by aerial ladders.
OPERATIONAL POLICY

OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE
Halyard should be tied correctly.
Ground ladders should be removed, carried, and raised per Fresno Fire Department
(FFD) policy.
Ground ladder should be placed at a proper climbing angle.
PROCESS
Time begins at the signal from the instructor and stops when the ladder is ready to
be climbed.
Equipment Needed: One truck company with members in full PPE, including SCBA.
Task: Remove, properly position, and raise a 35’ ground ladder to a target objective.

Performance Outcome: A 35’ ladder properly placed at the desired target location.
Company Directive: Deploy a 35’ ladder a minimum of two times, once with three
(3) members and once with two (2). Deploy the ladder per FFD Standard Operating
Procedures. This task should be completed within three (3) minutes for each
evolution.
