APPLICATION The use of an aerial ladder provides a multitude of operational capabilities. From roof access for ventilation to rescue to deploying an elevated master stream, the aerial ladder is a vital tool in the firefighting arsenal. The ability to quickly and effectively set up the aerial ladder cannot be overstated. OPERATIONAL POLICY This section intentionally left blank. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE Master stream nozzle should be placed in either rescue or ladder pipe postion per operational need. PROCESS Time begins at signal from instructor and ends when aerial ladder is ready to be climbed. Equipment Needed: One truck company with members in full PPE, without SCBA. Task: Position and properly set up the aerial ladder. Performance Outcome: An aerial ladder properly set up for simulated elevated Section 315.010 Page 1 of 2 master stream operation. Company Directive: Set up the aerial ladder to prepare for an elevate master stream operation. Position the aerial at a minimum of 90-degree rotation, 75 percent extension and 45-degree elevation.
