APPLICATION Securing a water supply and deploying pre-connected hand lines is one of the most common and critical tasks performed at fire scenes. Crew competence in this crucial evolution is a must for fire companies. OPERATIONAL POLICY This section intentionally left blank. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE All hose lines should be completely deployed from hosebeds prior to charging. Hose lines should not have kinks which would reduce the effectiveness of water delivery. All nozzles should operate at appropriate pressures to achieve stated gpm. PROCESS Time begins when the apparatus stops at fire hydrant and ends when water is flowing at required pressure and supply line has been established. Equipment Needed: One engine company with members in full PPE, including Section 315.002 Page 2 of 2 SCBA. Task: Perform a forward lay from a hydrant, 300 feet to the fire scene. Deploy and flow two pre-connected handlines. Performance Outcome: A minimum of 300 gpm flowing from two pre-connected handlines. Company Directive: Deploy and flow two pre-connected handlines after establishing a water supply from a hydrant and utilizing a 300’ LDH forward lay until a continuous water supply from a hydrant is established. The task should be completed within 3 minutes. 300' LDH Handlines 200' 200' 200 GPM 100 GPM INFORMATION This section intentionally left blank.
