SECTION 313.008a TANK SUPPLY FROM ANOTHER ENGINE
INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE EVOLUTION
PURPOSE
Measure a pump operator’s ability to establish a water supply from an adjacent
apparatus and provide adequate hose line pressure(s) for a rapid-fire attack.
APPLICATION
Individual performance evolutions (IPEs) are used to document skill level
performance.

PROCESS
Instructions to the Operator:
The operator should be able to supply attack line(s) while establishing a supply
successfully, safely, and methodically from an adjacent apparatus.
Equipment and Personnel Requirements:
• Operator wearing helmet and gloves.
• (2) Fresno Fire Department pumping apparatus.
• (1) hose line.
• (1) Firefighter wearing helmet and gloves.

Instructions to the Evaluator:
The evaluator should stop any evolution when unsafe acts or conditions occur.
Evolution:

Prepare attack pumper to pump water. (Refer to Section
313.005).
2. Supply hose lines as needed. (Refer to Section 313.006).
3. Assess water supply / update command as needed.
4. Properly deploy a 50’ roll of 2-1/2” in preparation.
5. Ensure appropriate spot location of supply pumper / tender.
6. Ensure appropriate emergency lighting is being used.
7. Properly connect supply hose to supply pumper - no kinks.
8.
Prepare supply pumper to pump (refer to Section 313.005),
or
Water tender (Refer to Section 310.010).
9. Generate approximately 50 psi with supply pumper.
10. Open supply pumper’s discharge slowly.
11. Open the auxiliary intake valve on the attack pumper slowly.
12. Fill tank ASAP while maintaining discharge pressures.
13.
Never allow discharge pressures to fall below or exceed
target PDP by more than 30 psi.
14.
Assess water level of supply pumper / update Command as
needed
15.
Prevent pump water overheating in supply pumper as
needed.
At a minimum, observe the following:
16. Water Tank Level.
17. Engine Temperature.
18. Oil Pressure.
19. Note abnormal noises or concerns.
20. Other:
Operator performed safely, confidently, and efficiently.
