Garcia, Engineer Review Level: 2 Administrative Support: Tammy Williams Management Analyst II ADA PURPOSE Fire attack hose lines are initially supplied by a limited on-board tank water supply. Any sustained fire attack requires the transition from tank water to hydrant water. APPLICATION Individual performance evolutions (IPE) are used to document skill level performance. OPERATIONAL POLICY This section intentionally left blank. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE This section intentionally left blank. PROCESS Instructions to the Operator: The operator should be able to make the transition successfully, safely, and methodically from tank water supply to hydrant supply while pumping to hand line(s). Equipment and Personnel Requirements: FFD pumping apparatus 1 Engineer wearing appropriate PPE Section 313.007a Page 1 of 4 hydrant 1 Firefighter wearing appropriate PPE Instructions to the Evaluator: The evaluator should stop any evolution when unsafe acts or conditions occur. Evaluation: A recommendation for improvement is indicated by a checkmark in a box with standard text (non-bold font). A need for improvement and scheduling of an evaluation is indicated by a checkmark in a box with standard text in bold font. INFORMATION This section intentionally left blank. TASK STEPS 1ST ATTEMPT 2ND ATTEMPT 1. Prepare pumper to pump water. (Refer to IPE Section 313.005a) 2. Supply hand lines as required. (Refer to IPE Section 313.006a) 3. Assess water supply / update command, as needed. 4. Make LDH connection at pump intake. 5. Open intake bleeder/drain. 6. Remove all significant LDH kinks. 7. Secure water supply. 8. Close bleeder/drain. 9. Open the intake valve slowly making a controlled changeover from tank to hydrant. 9a. Do not allow discharge pressures to fall below or exceed target PDP by more than 30 psi. 10. Take note of intake pressure for calculating “Water Remaining”. 11. Fill tank. 11a. Maintain discharge pressures +/-5 psi. 12. Ensure the tank is full and close the tank-fill valve. 13. Check undercarriage for leaks. 14. Recheck LDH for kinks and make necessary adjustments to remove them. 15. Observe the following: Water tank level, engine temp., oil pressure. 16. Note abnormal noises or concerns. 17. Successfully complete tasks within six (6) minutes. Time is for training purposes only. Additional notes: Operator performs safely, confidently, and efficiently.
