APPLICATION Pet oxygen masks are designed primarily for cats and dogs and provide a more efficient means of delivering oxygen than masks designed for humans. OPERATIONAL POLICY This section intentionally left blank. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE This section intentionally left blank. PROCESS GENERAL INFORMATION Through generous donations of community members, the Fresno Fire Department (FFD or Department) is able to equip all frontline and reserve apparatus with one pet oxygen kit. These kits will not be included as part of the standard inventory and are to be carried on Department apparatus as long as supplies last. The kits are designed for re-use; however, a thorough cleaning is necessary after use. Kits can be cleaned with soap and water, a disinfectant, or a 10:1 bleach and water solution. The kit contains three (3) different-sized masks, oxygen tubing, and a laminated reference sheet. The pet oxygen masks can be used with a bag valve mask if CPR Section 308.013 Page 1 of 2 or rescue breathing is needed or with the supplied tubing if supplemental oxygen is sufficient. A training video is located on the FFD Training LMS > File Center > Equipment > Pet Oxygen Mask. INFORMATION DEFINITIONS This section intentionally left blank.
