306.012 PASLODE FRAMING NAILER

PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to provide instruction to Fresno Fire Department (FFD
or Department) members on the care and use of the Paslode Framing Nailer. (See
Figure 1.)
APPLICATION
The Paslode Framing Nailer is a cordless nail gun which utilizes flammable gas
instead of compressed air as its energy source. The Paslode may be used in
shoring, or trench rescue operations.
OPERATIONAL POLICY
Always wear eye and ear protection when using the framing nailer.

PROCESS
1. Loading the Fuel Cell:
a. Open the fuel-cell compartment. (See Figure 2.)
b. Insert the fuel-cell tip pointing up making sure it is inserted all
the way. (See Figure 3.)

c. Close the fuel-cell compartment.
2. Loading the Battery Pack:
a. Load the battery with the clip on the battery facing out. (See
Figures 4 and 5.)
3. Loading the Nail Magazine:
a. First slide the follower to the butt of the framing nailer. (See
Figure 6.)
b. Insert the nails with the tip pointing out of the framing nailer.

c. Release the follower to hold the nails in place by the tip of the
framing nailer. (See Figure 7.)
d. To remove nails from the Paslode, release the follower by
sliding it to the butt of the gun. The follower will lock and allow
the nails to slide out the bottom of the magazine.
4. Using the Paslode:
a. Place the nails, fuel cell, and battery pack in the Paslode
b. Place the tip against the wood where the nail is intended to go.
c. Press the tip down at least 3/4-inch.
d. Squeeze the trigger. (See Figures 8 and 9.)
