HomeMy WebLinkAbout109.010 - General Orders Fresno City Fire Department 100 Administrative Manual SECTION 109.010 GENERAL ORDERS GENERAL ORDERS Section 1 Under direction of the Fire Chief, members detailed to head the various divisions, and sections of the Department shall have charge of the administrative duties of their respective division and section and will be responsible for the maintenance of discipline and authority. Section 2 Members may, upon application to the Fire Chief, be granted leaves of absence as provided by the ordinance of the City of Fresno and applicable state and federal laws, when such leaves are requested because of illness, death, or injury of a member of their immediate family. Section 3 Suggestions for the improvement of the Department or the well-being of the membership will, when presented through proper channels, be welcomed and carefully considered. Section 4 Members making recommendations for changes, alterations, or improvements will follow City policy. Section 5 All members of the Department will be regarded as a part of the working force and may be required to perform such duties as circumstances of the service demand. Section 6 Members are subject to off-duty details and extra duty required to cope with emergencies or to effectively represent the Department in civic and other functions. Alcorn, Fire Chief Current Revision Date: 12/18/2023 Section 109.010 Next Revision (1) Date: 12/18/2026 Page 1 of 2 Section 7 When a member receives an order that is in conflict with a previous order, he/she shall so inform the officer who issued the conflicting order and be governed by his/her instructions. Section 8 Any member having cause to believe he/she have been unjustly or unfairly treated may appeal through channels to the Fire Chief. Section 9 Whenever a member of the Department makes claim against one or more parties for damages arising from an on-the-job accident, member shall promptly notify the Fire Chief of such claim through the chain of command. Section 10 Provided it does not interfere with Departmental activities, solicitation in company quarters for the sale of uniforms, uniform accessories, or other related business may be permitted only by written authority of the Fire Chief. Section 11 In the transaction of Department business, members, unless otherwise ordered, will operate through their immediate superior officer. Section 12 All members of the Department irrespective of the division or section to which they are assigned, or the duties they perform, are subject to the rules and regulations and orders concerning the government of the Department, particularly such rules and regulations as apply to conduct, discipline, and adherence to laws and ordinances.
