106.58 ANNUAL STATION SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE
INSPECTION FORM (FD-53)
EFFECTIVE: SEPTEMBER 2008
Current Revision Date: 06/20/2018 Next Revision Date: 06/20/2019
Author’s Name/Rank: Bradley Dandridge, Captain Review Level: 1
PURPOSE
This inspection ensures a safe and properly maintained workplace is provided for
members of the City of Fresno Fire Department.
APPLICATION
This checklist is to be used annually for the purpose of inspecting fire stations to
help identify potential hazards and maintain a safe working environment.
OPERATIONAL POLICY
This section intentionally left blank.
OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE
This section intentionally left blank.
PROCESS
Using the following check-off sheets, inspect the structure, fixtures, and appliances
of the fire station. Any potential and/or immediate safety hazards should be
corrected while onsite with the assistance of the on-duty crew as needed. Ensure all
members, either assigned or temporary, are aware of this hazard and take all
necessary precautions to avoid member injury.
This form was created for adaptation to any of the fire stations in the Department.
However, responsibility lies with the inspecting member(s) to make notes as they
see fit to help identify a problem/potential hazard. In addition, because of the
varying layouts of the stations, multiple room specific pages may need to be printed
out, depending on how many rooms the inspected station has.
Section 106.058
If a “No” is checked on the checklist sheet, provide a brief explanation of the problem
noted with reference to what and where the problem lies, as well as a reasonable
solution. A comments section specific to the room or area inspected is provided for
such explanations. On the Comments page, indicate which section number on the
inspection form the comment pertains to. Give a brief problem description as well as
a potential solution. Example: If during the inspection, the office lighting is poor,
and the lighting section is labeled No. 3 on the checklist, your comments should read
similar to the following: 3) Lighting in office is insufficient. Another bank of ceiling-
mounted lights will fix.
During the inspection process, various items on the checklist will necessitate
consultation of the station crew. Rather, the station crew should be asked if there
has been any problem with the apparatus bay floor drainage and make the
necessary notations. Several of these instances may include, but are not limited to,
the station-wide air-conditioning and heating, dishwasher, oven, and the
printer/copier/fax machine(s).
