PURPOSE
To institute guidelines for the establishment and organization of an apparatus
committee for the Fresno Fire Department (FFD or Department).

OPERATIONAL POLICY
The apparatus committee is responsible for the procurement of Department
apparatus as directed by the Fire Chief.
OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE
The Department maintains an apparatus committee to coordinate the research,
evaluation, specification, purchase and up fit of all Department apparatus. The
apparatus committee performs the following functions:
Develop specifications for new fire apparatus.
Make recommendations for the replacement of apparatus.
Make recommendations for the placement of new apparatus.
Follow-up on repair requisitions and ongoing apparatus issues.
Liaison with fire shop personnel.
Develop and maintain apparatus policies and procedures.

Liaison with equipment and safety committee members.

INFORMATION
The apparatus committee chairperson reports to the deputy chief of operations. The
committee is made up of the following members:
One (1) battalion chief (chairperson).
One (1) fire equipment lead worker.
Minimum of four (4) operations representatives.
