Rodriguez, Management Analyst II ADA PURPOSE This policy establishes the Fresno Fire Department’s (FFD or Department) requirements related to large family daycare fire alarm device installation within the City of Fresno and contract service areas, as noted in the California Fire Code (CFC), Section 907, Fire Alarm and Detection Systems, Subsection 907.2.6.4, Large Family Day Care. APPLICATION This policy will apply to all large family daycares within the City of Fresno or the contract service areas. OPERATIONAL POLICY Based upon the need for uniformity in application across the Department’s diverse service delivery area, and after careful deliberation, the Department has determined the following: 1. Prior to issuing a fire clearance from a Std. 850 form, all new, previously unlicensed, Large Family Daycare facilities will obtain an electrical permit from the applicable agency and install a CSFM listed manual pull box within the facility at an approved location (i.e., as near to the front door as possible). The manual pull box will actuate a distinctive fire alarm signal via an approved, CSFM listed, notification appliance (i.e., horn strobe combination or bell assembly), which will be audible throughout the facility. 2. The devices will receive their primary power from the building wiring. Wiring will be permanent and without a disconnecting switch other than as required for overcurrent protection. Section 406.002 Page 1 of 2 3. These devices need not be connected to any other fire alarm device and are not to be considered a requirement for a fire alarm system. 4. Previously approved, existing Large Family Daycare facilities are not required to retroactively comply with these requirements. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE This section intentionally left blank.
