PURPOSE
This policy provides direction regarding the requirements for the possession, storage
and use of explosives related to the limits established by law in the Fresno Municipal
Code (FMC) and California Fire Code (CFC), Chapter 56.
APPLICATION
This policy clarifies the Fresno Fire Department (FFD or Department) requirements
related to explosives within the City of Fresno (City) and contract service areas.
OPERATIONAL POLICY
The City has had a long standing local amendment with more restrictive requirements
related to the possession, storage and use of explosives. Experience has shown this
local amendment provides a number of substantial benefits to the community at large.
The possession, storage and use of explosives is prohibited within the City and the
Department’s contract service areas.
Exception: When specifically approved by the Fire Marshal, or designee.
