APPLICATION This policy has been established to provide direction for issuing or renewing operational (use) permits. These permits are required for specific operations and/or for the use, storage and handling of hazardous materials that exceed the exempt amounts in accordance with the Fresno Municipal Code (FMC) and the California Fire Code (CFC), Chapter 1. OPERATIONAL POLICY Based upon the need for uniformity in application across the Department’s diverse service delivery area, and after careful deliberation, the Department has determined the following: Operational (use) permits are required by the FMC and CFC for a number of operations and/or for the use, storage and handling of hazardous materials. Prior to the issuance of an operational (use) permit, a physical inspection shall be completed and all associated permit fees paid. The issued permit includes a list of the permit categories and the expiration date, which will coincide with the next scheduled inspection date. Once issued, permits must be readily available at the site for inspection by FFD personnel. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE This section intentionally left blank. PROCESS During the inspection, the fire inspector will assist the business owner in completing all required information on the Special Hazard Permit Application form (FPD-F-62). The inspector will verify that the quantities on site comply with the FMC and CFC. Effective Date: June 2008 Darla J.
