Situations that arise which are not addressed by this policy should be referred through channels, with recommendations, to the Deputy Chief of Operations Division. APPLICATION The parking spaces in fire station parking lots are primarily reserved for Department members who are assigned to those stations, or who routinely park Department vehicles overnight at a particular fire station. As a general rule, there are more spaces at each fire station than necessary for the members assigned. Many of the extra spaces are solicited by other City employees who need a decentralized location for overnight parking of their assigned City vehicles. The Department is receptive to such requests, provided adequate spaces are available and not required for Department members or other Department vehicles. OPERATIONAL POLICY The number of spaces to be reserved for members assigned to each fire station is as follows: 1. One (1) space for each assigned member. 2. Two (2) additional spaces for each single-company station. 3. Three (3) additional spaces for each multiple-company station. 4. Additional space(s) are reserved for other Department vehicles routinely parked at a particular fire station. Section 206.008 Page 1 of 3 Parking of other City vehicles is subject to the following conditions: 1. Parking is permitted on a first-come basis. 2. Parking is not allowed until permission is secured from one of the fire station company officers. 3. Private cars of other City employees may not be parked overnight in fire station parking lots. 4. One (1) private car may be parked on the fire station lot during working hours for each City vehicle parked overnight. 5. Private vehicles may only be parked in identified parking spaces. 6. Members will not use fire station parking lots as storage areas for personal vehicles (including recreational vehicles, trailers, etc.) during non-working periods. Company officers will maintain a current log of all City vehicles approved for overnight parking. The log is to be on 8-1/2 x11 inch paper with the title "Fire Station Reserved Parking". The log should list the type of vehicle, license number, City asset number, department assigned, and date approved for parking. The log should be maintained on the office bulletin board.
