Johnson, Senior Administrative Clerk Section 202.020 Page 1 of 2 PURPOSE This policy is designed to provide members of the Fresno Fire Department (FFD or Department) with general guidelines related to the use of lock boxes and Police/Fire bypass gates outside the City of Fresno jurisdiction. APPLICATION This policy is to be used when dealing with lock boxes and Police/Fire bypass gates in the City of Fresno. OPERATIONAL POLICY Knox Box The Knox Box in the City of Clovis is keyed different than the City of Fresno Knox Box. The Clovis Fire Department has high security guidelines for handling a Knox Key. The keys are stored in a lock box on the apparatus which is electronically monitored. If a Knox Key is needed to access a building in the City of Clovis, the company officer will need to make a request through communications for a Clovis Fire apparatus to respond with a key. Police/Fire Bypass Key The Clovis Police/Fire bypass key X-1 is keyed the same as the Fresno X-1 Police/Fire bypass key. Department members can gain access to Clovis apartments and other properties that are secured with a Police/Fire bypass, by using the X-1 key found on all Department front line apparatus.
