FIRE STRATEGY PLAN
Goal
To provide a safe and effective response to fire alarm notifications in commercial,
industrial, and multifamily structures.
Objectives
1. Fire prevention, fire control, and hazard control.
2. Restore alarm system to full function.
Typical Response Assignment
1. One engine or truck company to respond code 3 to all fire alarms in
commercial, industrial, and multi-family residential structures.
If, while responding, information is obtained that the alarm is the result
of an uncontrolled fire, the balance of a commercial alarm will be
requested.
2. Upon notification of a reset of the alarm, the responding unit may
reduce to code 2 to investigate.
3. Upon notification from an alarm company with confirmation from a
responsible party on scene that the alarm was for a non-fire related
issue, and has reset, responding units may cancel.
On-Scene Responsibilities
Upon arrival the first-in unit will assume command and take the following actions:
1. Assess the alarm system to determine the nature of the alarm.
2. Request sufficient additional companies to mitigate the incident.
3. Ensure the property owner or responsible party is able to ready the
alarm system for use.
