HomeMy WebLinkAbout306.004b - SEEK Attack Pro VRS Thermal Imaging CameraEffective Date: August 2024 Robert Camp, Battalion Chief Current Revision Date: 8/1/2024 Section 306.004b Next Revision (2) Date: 8/1/2026 Page 1 of 6 300 Training and Equipment 306.004b – SEEK Attack Pro VRS Thermal Imaging Camera PURPOSE The purpose of this procedure is to provide instructions to Fresno Fire Department (FFD or Department) members on the proper use and maintenance of the SEEK Attack Pro VRS thermal imaging camera (TIC). APPLICATION To be used by all members who operate the thermal imaging camera during maintenance, training, and emergency operations. OPERATIONAL POLICY This section intentionally left blank. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE • The TIC is to be carried by the officer to assist in decision making during diminished visibility situations. • The TIC user should always maintain awareness of location and escape routes and not be dependent on the TIC for personal navigation. PROCESS 1. Daily Inspection: • The TIC is checked as part of the FD-3 (daily equipment check). • Batteries are to be changed out from the on-board charger at least monthly, fully depleted, and re-charged on the base unit to extend battery life. • Conduct a visual inspection for cleanliness, carry strap condition, and battery charge. Powering the camera on: • Ensure that the battery is properly charged. • Press and release the green power (left) button to turn the camera on. Imaging starts within 8 seconds. 3. Powering the camera off: • Press and hold the green power (left) button for 3 seconds while the camera is turned on to power off the camera. 4. Switching between the camera modes: • Press and hold the flashlight (right) button for 3 seconds to toggle between TI Basic, TI Basic+, and Survey Mode(s). 5. Powering on/off the flashlight: • Quickly press and release the flashlight (right) button to enable the flashlight; quickly press and release again to disable the flashlight. 6. To start/stop video recording: • Double press the green power (left) button to turn the video recording on. A r ed dot with a green outline appears. • Press and release the green power (left) button once to stop. 7. To download video recordings: • Remove the battery. • Plug the included USB cable into the USB port within the handle. • Transfer files from the recognized camera drive to the destination computer. • Eject or remove the camera as a drive from the computer. Over temperature indicator provides a visual warning that the thermal imaging camera is about to shut down due to overheating of internal components. Move the camera to a cooler location. 2. Color reference temperature bar. 3. Battery status indicator. 4. TI Basic+ icon, indicates that the extra features of TI Basic+ are enabled; quickly press and release the green power button to revert to TI basic mode. 5. Temperature measurement reading, displays the temperature measured at the center reticle location (when TI Basic+ enabled). 6. Temperature reticle (when TI Basic+ enabled). 7. Survey Mode utilizes a different color palette and reduces the temperature range. Survey Mode icon: indicates that the camera is in Survey Mode. 9. Recording icon displayed while recording video. Battery Status Indicator Equipment ratings: Supply voltage: 7.5VDC Power Rating: 13W Battery Type: 3.63V/4.9Ah/17.78W (Seek P/N FA-BAA only) Environmental: 0 to +40C charging, 0 to +55C operating. IP67. DEFINITIONS Reticle: a series of fine lines or fibers in the eyepiece of an optical device, such as a telescope or microscope, or on the screen of an oscilloscope, used as a measuring scale or an aid in locating objects.
