Semonious, Fire Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal Fire Prevention and Investigations Division (559) 621-4181  FAX (559) 457-1279 Fresno Fire Department  911 H Street  Fresno, CA 93721-3082 “To protect and put service above all else.” FIRE INDUSTRY BULLETIN 2024-002 SCOPE Design and installation requirements for Emergency Responder Radio Coverage systems (ERRC) in new and existing buildings permitted after July 1, 2024 within the City of Fresno (COF) and contract service areas. PURPOSE The purpose of this industry bulletin is to notify affected stakeholders that the COF has modified the Fresno Municipal Code (FMC) and in turn, the California Fire Code (CFC) related to ERRC design and installation through the adoption of COF, Ordinance Number 2024 – 018, Bill B-16. BACKGROUND As noted in the CFC, the fire code official has the authority to render interpretations and formulate policies they deem necessary based upon local conditions related to all fire protection systems. In the intervening code cycle update adopted by the California Office the State Fire Marshal (CSFM) in 2024, the ERRC adopted referenced standard was modified from National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) NFPA 1221 to NFPA 1225. In response to this adoption, the COF amended sections within CFC Chapter 5 to address local conditions as permitted under the California Health and Safety Code (HSC). INFORMATION Based on the items noted above, the Fresno Fire Department (FFD or Department) will continue to require compliance with longstanding, and existing, adopted requirements for ERRC design and installation as noted in FFD policy #403.009. NOTE This section left intentionally blank. This bulletin is effective July 11, 2024.
