SECTION 204.008 LUCAS DEVICE DISPATCH PROCEDURE
PURPOSE
The purpose of this procedure is to provide a guideline for dispatching Fresno Fire
Department (FFD or Department) units equipped with a LUCAS device to reported
cardiac arrest.
APPLICATION
This procedure is to be used by Fresno County EMS Communications Center (ECC)
personnel when dispatching an FFD unit equipped with a LUCAS device. It is also
provided for FFD suppression personnel as a guide for response to a cardiac arrest.
OPERATIONAL POLICY
It is the policy of the Department to provide one FFD unit with a LUCAS device to
every reported cardiac arrest.
OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE
Company officers may request a FFD unit equipped with a LUCAS device where a

the patient destination. After use, the LUCAS device will be cleaned and returned to
its assigned unit.
