500 Firefighter Trainee Manual
SECTION 500.005 ACADEMY INSTRUCTOR REQUIRED TRAINING
PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to establish a minimum training standard for Fresno Fire
Department (FFD or Department) academy instructors.
APPLICATION
The Training Chief, training officers, subject matter experts, and academy evaluators
receive training in a variety of areas prior to participating as an instructor in an
academy.
OPERATIONAL POLICY
Each academy shall have an instructor of record, lead evaluator, skills evaluator(s),
and subject matter experts. All instructors/evaluators may not be assigned to the
trainee academy at the same time, but at a minimum, two evaluators shall be used to
than the first two. All instructional staff (as noted above) are to be provided training.
