RESOLUTION NO. 89-167
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRESNO, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE RENAMING
OF FIG AVENUE BETWEEN CALIFORNIA AND NORTH
AVENUES TO MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. BOULEVARD
WHEREAS, the Council considered the request of
Councjlmember Kimber to rename Fig Avenue, between California and
North Avenues, to Martin Luther 'King Jr. Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, the Council held a public hearing on 'this -
requested street name. change on May 2, 1989, pursuant to a
pubU shed notj ce as requi red by Sectj on 12-1106 of the Fresno
Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the Counci 1 after conductj ng a pub 1 i c heari ng on
this matter as required by the Fresno Municjpa1 Code has made a
finding that the proposed street name change is for the purpose
of honoring a person having special prominence and significance
to the culture and history of the city and determined ~erefrom
that the street name should be changed.
