SECTION 308.003 STREAMLIGHT BATTERY POWERED SCENE LIGHT
PURPOSE
This procedure is to provide Fresno Fire Department (FFD or Department) members
with the specifications and guidelines for safe operation of the Streamlight, battery
powered scene light.
APPLICATION
This procedure is to be used by all members for details on the specifications and
operation of Streamlight, Portable Scene Light II.
OPERATIONAL POLICY
This section intentionally left blank.
OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE
While eye damage from the portable scene light is unlikely, you should not stare into
the beam.
The light is not intrinsically safe and should not be used in hazardous atmospheres.
The lamp face should not be placed against any surface including skin while in
operation. The resultant heat build-up can cause a fire or burns.
PROCESS
When placing the light into service, ensure the main battery disconnect switch is
placed in the ON position and ensure that the unit is fully charged.
1. Remove the waterproof cover located under the charge port cover. DO NOT
DISCARD.

2. Insert a pen into the switch hole in the back cover and slide the switch towards
the left to turn the unit on.

3. Install the cover in the back panel. Failure to install the round cover onto the
rear panel results in a compromise of the water ingress rating and may
damage the unit.
Daily Operation:
1. A momentary two position switch controls the ON/OFF and operation of the
high-intensity LED light source settings.
a. There are five intensity settings.

2. Push the switch briefly up or down to turn the unit on.
3. Toggling the switch upwards increases the intensity setting.
4. Toggling the switch downward decreases the intensity setting.
5. To turn off the unit, hold the switch up or down for one (1) second.
a. The unit can remember the last intensity setting.

6. Rotate the head to the desired position.

7. Stack lights up to three (3) as necessary to increase intensity.

Charging the Light:
1. Remove the charge port cover and insert the charge cord connector into the
charge port adjacent to the display.
a. The display is to read out the percentage of charge.
b. The light may need as little as a few minutes or up to 6 hours to fully
charge.
2. Once the charge is complete, remove the charge cord, and replace the charge
port cover.

INFORMATION
• The 18 LEDs within the wide pattern parabolic reflectors produce a
smooth, high lumen flood pattern.
• Five intensity levels correspond to desired run time:
o 100%: 10,000 lumens; runs 2 hours.
o 80%: 8,300 lumens; runs 2.75 hours.
o 60%: 6,300 lumens; runs 3.75 hours.
o 40%: 4,500 lumens; runs 5.75 hours.
o 20%: 2,300 lumens; runs 11 hours.
o Indefinite run time with AC/DC power cord.
• The head rotates 360 degrees.
• Lithium-Ion batteries charge in 6 hours.
• Batteries continue to charge while plugged into an AC or DC power
source.
• High-impact, thermoplastic housing mounted in a virtually indestructible
alloy steel frame.
o IPX7 rated; waterproof to 1 meter for 30 minutes.
• Measures: 16 X 11 X 12 inches and 15.56 pounds.
• The newest trucks will charge in the compartment. The older trucks must
charge in station like their other battery powered items.
