A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRESNO,
CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THAT THE BOARD OF SUPER-
VISORS OF THE COUNTY OF FRESNO ADOPT AN INTERIM
ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE FRUIT/CHURCH AREA

. WHEREAS, the City of Fresno is undertaking the redevelopment
of that certain area north of west Church Avenue between South Fruit
Avenue and South west Avenue as authorized by Ordinance No. 537
of the County of Fresno; and,
WHEREAS, the redevelopment plan may require the establishment
of an "M-l", Light Manufacturing District land use zoning district
on the northerly side of West Church Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, certain land on the southerly side of West Church
Avenue between SouthWest Avenue and South Fruit Avenue, and land
on both sides of South Fruit Avenue between West Church Avenue
and Wast Jensen Avenue is presently in an "M-3" Heavy Industrial
District land use zoning district; and,
WHEREAS, the County of Fresno intends to rehabilitate that
certain at'Gain an "R-A" Single Family Residential-Agricultural
District known as Walnut Gardens and generally bounded by south
Walnut Avenue, South Arthur Avenue, west and East Jensen Avenue,
and west and East Grove Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, the redevelopment project and the rehabilitation of
the "R-A II Single Family Residential-Agricultural District may be
adversely affected by the establishment of heavy industrial uses
in the "M-3" Heavy Industrial District above mentioned;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FRESNO th~t the Board of Supervisors of the County of Fresno,

State of California, is requested to cause a study to be made
oi (.he "M-3" Heavy Industrial District above mentioned, or intend
such study to be made within a reasonable time, and consider
a zoning proposal to redistrict (rezone) such IIM-3" property
to make it compatible with the redevelopment plan to be adopted
by the City of Fresno and with the rehabilitation by the County
of Fresno of the fiR-A" district mentioned above.
BB IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the
county of Fresno is requested to schedule a public hearing to
consider the adoption of an interim ordinance, pursuant to Section .
65858 of the Government Code, prohibiting any uses which may be
in conflict with the contemplated zoning proposal for the above
property presently classified as an "M-3" Heavy Industrial District.
