FRESNO AUTHORIZING 'j'HE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC
WORKS TO SIGN AGREEMENTS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL
OR STREET LIGHTING PROJECTS WITH THE COUNTY

WHEREAS I the Council of the city of Fresno has approved traffic
signal and highway safety lighting projects included in the 1970-71
Capital Improvement Program; and
~mEREAs,the Council of the city of Fresno has previously
approved the activities necessary to utilize Federal Highway assistance
funds under the TOPICS Program; and
WHEREAS, the city of Fresno is determined to provide the highest
level of service to the commuility at the least costj and
WHEREAS, the utilization of available TOPICS Funds assistance
can accomplish a substantial reduction in local fund allocation towards
these projects; and
WHEREAS, the city and the county of Fresno and the state of
California, Department of Public Works, Division of Highways, will
be engaged in the installation of traffic signals and highway safety
lighting projects at city-county-state intersections and it will be
of mutual benefit for the city, county and state to enter into agre e -
ments £or the performance of services necessary therefor.
NOW, THERBFORE BE I~ RESOLVED tb~t the Director o£ Public Works
is authori~ed to sign agreements with the state of California ana the
county of Fresno for traffic signal and street lighting projects approved
in the 1970-71 capital Improvement Program.
