FIRE INDUSTRY BULLETIN 2022-001
SCOPE
Existing California Fire Code (CFC) §105.4.6, construction document requirements.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this industry bulletin is to reaffirm the Fresno Fire Department’s (FFD or
Department) commitment to enforcement of existing code provisions requiring approved
construction documents to be available to FFD staff at all sites where work is being
performed.
BACKGROUND
As noted in CFC §105.4.6, at least one set of approved construction documents shall be
on the site where authorized work is in progress, at all times. These documents include,
but are not limited to: All approved plan sheets, manufacturer’s submittal sheets,
calculation sheets of all types, permit inspection cards, etc.
This is not a new code provision. Adherence to these requirements facilitates timely
inspections, accurate record keeping, and collaboration between various City
departments engaged in regulatory oversight; all of which ultimately benefits the
applicant.
INFORMATION
Effective immediately, FFD staff members will commence a maximum enforcement effort
related to these requirements. As has been FFD’s past practice, if all of the required
documents are not present upon arrival at the inspection site, FFD staff will discontinue
the inspection, and a reinspection fee will be assessed. It is the obligation of the applicant
to contact FFD to reschedule an additional inspection.
NOTE
This notice is effective immediately and is issued in conjunction with the City of Fresno –
Planning and Development Department, Building and Safety Services Division Industry
Bulletin 22-01.
