HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - - 2002-174 - 6/4/2002RESOLUTION NO. 2002-174 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRESNO, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO ENTER INTO A LEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF FRESNO AND WAYNE H. TOWNE AND FRANCES TOWNE FOR OFFICE SPACE AT 1330 "L" STREET, SUITE "A" IN FRESNO, CALIFORNIA FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT INTERNAL AFFAIRS UNIT AND THE PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS UNIT WHEREAS, the Police Department currently is in need of additional office space to house the Internal Affairs Unit and the Professional Standards Unit; and WHEREAS, the Police Department plans to provide off-site office space for Internal Affairs Unit and the Professional Standards Unit; and WHEREAS, in order to comply with the recommendations of the Fresno County Grand Jury's report on relocation of the Internal Affairs Unit; and WHERE AS, it is in the best interest of the City of Fresno to locate these units separate and apart from Headquarters, but to remain in the downtown area within walking distance of Police Headquarters; and WHEREAS, after investigation of available properties within the City of Fresno, the listed property will meet the needs for the Police Department; and WHEREAS, the cost to lease the office space of approximately 2,100 square feet will not exceed $36,180.00 annually. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Fresno as follows: The Council has received and considered the report and recommendation of City staff. 2. Approves the lease agreement on file with the City Clerk. 3. Authorizes the Police Chief of the City of Fresno, or his designee, to enter into and execute on behalf of the Council of the City of Fresno, said lease agreement for office space of approximately 2,100 square feet for four (4) years with a four (4) year option at a total cost of $36,180.00 per year from Wayne H. Towne CPA, the owner. 4. Such contract is deemed to be of necessity for the safe and efficient performance of duties by the Fresno Police Department.
